All Children Can Learn To Care For The Earth!

Children are curious about wild animals, plants and ecosystems that live near their homes. They thrive when they safely and respectfully explore their local natural communities. Children in rural, suburban and urban settings can grow from such a program.

Environmental education supports young children's social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth, and lays the groundwork for success later in their educational careers. Young children who experience deep connections with nature around them tend to  grow to become thoughtful, environmentally conscious citizens. A good nature based educational program helps all children grow to meet their fullest potential.

Paul Belz received a Master's Degree in Environmental Education from Antioch New England Graduate School in 1994. He develops and teaches environmental education workshops for preschool and elementary school teachers. He has presented these classes at early childhood education conferences at community colleges, for Alameda County agencies that focus on early childhood education and in other settings. He collaborates with San Francisco's Planet Drum Foundation on bioregional education programs for teachers and interested community members. Teachers learn to create and teach environmental education lessons for their students.

He has also developed and taught hands-on interactive programs for Northern California's children for more than twelve years. Institutions he has worked for include the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, Point Reyes Field Seminars and others. Paul also developed and taught a neighborhood-based environmental education program at Oakland, California's Piedmont Avenue Elementary School for seven years.
